Mayor Urges Residents to Stay Off Roads Amid Storm Impacts

The County of Maui is urging residents and visitors to stay at home and off of roads and highways while a heavy rainstorm affects the islands today with flooding and landslides in some areas.

UPDATE: Rockslide at Honokohau Valley Cleared

Maui police reopened the Honoapiilani Highway at Honokohau Valley at around 11:55 a.m. The road was closed since 9:15 a.m. because of a rockslide near mile post 36.

The Maui girl suffered fatal injuries in a rockslide at the Pipiwai Trail in Kipahulu on May 31st.
