DBEDT report: Maui visitor arrivals, spending fall steeply in July, compared with last year

A monthly report by the state Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism shows Maui tourism dropped significantly in July compared with last year, before the Lahaina and Upcountry wildfires.

Input invited on the role of tourism in supporting Maui’s recovery

The Hawai‘i Tourism Authority will hold a community meeting to discuss proposed actions for tourism in support of Maui’s recovery. The meeting will be held at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s Morgado Hall on Monday, Dec. 4, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Lahaina legislators urge Gov. Green to delay phased reopening of West Maui tourism

Senator Angus McKelvey and Representative Elle Cochran sent a letter to Governor Josh Green urging him to abandon the hard date of Oct. 8 for the reopening of tourism to West Maui.

Hawaiʻi Tourism Industry Sets New Records

Here on Maui, visitor arrivals were up 3.9% in 2016 to more than 2.6 million visitors; and visitor spending increased 8.4% to $4.5 billion.
