MAILE AMBER Alerts used for only second time in Hawai’i, with two rescued children
For the first time in 17 years, wireless phones across the State of Hawaiʻi received the unfamiliar siren sounds and buzzing of MAILE AMBER alerts, detailing an abduction of a teen on the Big Island.
Update/located: Maile Amber Alert issued for missing teen Mikella Debina
A Maile Amber Alert was issued for 15-year-old Mikella Debina, who was last seen about 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16, in the area of Anaeho’omalu Bay near Waikoloa Beach Drive on Hawaiʻi Island. Police have reason to believe the girl was abducted and issued the alert overnight.
