Among this year’s recipients, Keauhou took home four awards for their album I Ke Ko A Ke Au. Kapena, celebrated their first family album, Palena ‘Ole, taking home four awards.

During its grand opening celebration in 1974, there were a total of 48 stores. Now, four decades later, the center has over 100 stores, restaurants, theaters and services, and is host to over 200 community events each year.

At the blessing event, Panasonic Corporation announced the donation of 30- Panasonic 220 watt Photovoltaic panels (6.6 kW) to offset the community centers energy requirements.

In addition to being named Favorite Entertainer, Makua also earned Hoku awards for Female Vocalist of the Year and Hawaiian Album of the Year.

The Na Hoku Hanohano awards continues to celebrate the best music of Hawaii with 26 categories.

The two hula dancers are from different halau, but performed together as classmates while attending Kahamehameha, Maui.

Two Maui Halau will participate in three nights of hula from April 28 to 30, at the 2011 Merrie Monarch Festival in Hilo, Hawaii.
