Tokuda leads effort to protect labor rights of Department of Defense educators
US Rep. Jill Tokuda led 44 bipartisan members of Congress in urging the Secretary of Defense to protect the collective bargaining rights of educators and educational support staff at the Department of Defense Education Activity. The letter requests a response no later than Thursday, April 10, 2025.
Kauaʻi community leader receives national human and civil rights award from educators
A Kauaʻi man was recognized on a national stage for his integral role in the preservation and education of an ancient fishpond near Līhuʻe. Onizuka Memorial Award from the National Education Association in Philadelphia Wednesday.
US Senator Hirono Reintroduces Bill to Double Pell Grant, Make College More Affordable
US Sen. Mazie K. Hirono was part of a group of legislators who reintroduced the Pell Grant Preservation and Expansion Act, legislation that would double the Pell award for college expenses, index the award to inflation, and make other changes to expand the award for working students and families.
