This August, the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts (SFCA) will hold strategic planning sessions across Hawai’i to gather diverse insights to help shape the agency’s initiatives and priorities.

$30,000 National Endowment for the Arts Grant for Maui’s Hui Moʻolelo program

The County of Maui announced that it has been awarded a prestigious Grants for Arts Projects Award in the amount of $30,000 by the National Endowment for the Arts. This grant will support the County’s Hui Mo’olelo program, a collaborative initiative in partnership with Maui Public Art Corps and Hale Hōʻikeʻike at the Bailey House/ Maui Historical Society.

Lānaʻi photos sought for oral history project

Organizers of the project on Lānaʻi are currently inviting residents and former residents to contribute Lānaʻi photographs that will help to “ignite” further brainstorming by the artists and community about oral stories told by several residents.

Where should public art go in Maui County? Survey seeks community input

Maui County Wins National Arts Grant

As the only awardee in the state, Maui will receive $75,000 to support planning and implementation of pilot arts programming in Wailuku Town over two years.

Bishop Museum Hosts Maui Event on Legacy of Hawaiian Hats

Stations will be set up to document oral histories as well as identify and document Hawaiian woven materials brought to the event. The Discovery Day takes place February 10, at the Kaunoa Senior Center.
