Senate Passes Provisions to Improve, Expand Native Hawaiian Education

The provisions feature the re-authorization of the Native Hawaiian education program which includes the expansion of eligibility to charter schools, and more than $160 million over the next five years.

Amendments Aim to Promote Native Language Education, Improve School Facilities

US Senator Brian Schatz introduced the amendments. Both items were adopted by the US Senate as part of the Every Child Achieves Act in an 81 to 17 vote.
