A study commissioned by Hawaiian Electric highlights the need for significant technological advancements, particularly in sustainable fuels and carbon-capture, to achieve full decarbonization in Hawai‘i by 2045.

The target is in alignment with the objectives of the Paris Agreement to limit global warming to 1.5-degrees Celsius to reduce the risks and effects of climate change.
