MACC hosts free events celebrating Micronesian heritage and ocean exploration

The Maui Arts & Cultural Center will present two free public programs this week in conjunction with the Ocean of Peace exhibition, featuring a documentary on deep-sea exploration and an evening of performance art highlighting Micronesian culture.

UH Graduate Student is First Pacific Islander to Reach Ocean’s Deepest Point

University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa graduate, Nicole Yamase is the first Pacific Islander to voyage to the deepest part of the Earth, the Mariana Trench and its deepest region, the Challenger Deep – 35,827 feet – on March 11, 2021.
