First Hawaiian settlers brought with them very important crops to make sure that upon landing they would have plants that could provide basic necessities. These items or plants that were brought are often referred to as “canoe crops.”

On May 4, Maui Mayor Alan M. Arakawa toured the headquarters of Noni Biotech International and invited the company to join a County of Maui trip to Japan and Korea.

During World Trade Week ceremonies last month, Noni Biotech International, a Maui-based Noni products manufacturing company, was awarded the Presidential “E” Award for Exports by U.S. Department of Commerce Secretary Gary Locke at the Department’s headquarters in Washington, D.C.
