The Maui Interscholastic League has sanctioned surfing as an official high school sport since 2014, and now the State Legislature is considering funding to make the sport sanctioned statewide at public schools.
HMSA celebrates 20 years of Kaimana Awards, opens scholarship applications
The Hawaiʻi Medical Service Association has announced the 20th anniversary of the Kaimana Awards & Scholarship Program, which has awarded 341 student scholarships and 171 school awards to date. With the upcoming Kaimana class of 2025, HMSA will have invested a total of $1.62 million in scholarships and awards to students and schools.
Downtown Athletic Club of Hawaiʻi announces Luna Strong fundraising campaign
The Downtown Athletic Club of Hawaiʻi has launched a “Luna Strong” fundraising campaign to assist the Lahainaluna student athletes and coaches who were displaced by last monthʻs fire. The fund was created through a request from the school’s athletic program, and has already collected $325,000 in monetary and in-kind donations to kick off the campaign.
Stage is Set for 2022 HHSAA Golf Championships at Kāʻanapali, May 6 to 10
After a two-year hiatus, the highly anticipated 2022 HHSAA Girls & Boys Golf Championships sponsored by the David S. Ishii Foundation will be contested from May 6 to 10 on the Kā‘anapali Kai (Girls) and Royal Kā‘anapali (Boys) Golf Courses!
