#Outer Island Blockage

There is a small 3 to 7-foot south/southwest swell expected to build Friday. Hopefully the outer islands won’t block too much of the energy from this swell and only produce waves in the 2 to 3-foot range.

Last weekends gigantic WNW did not quite materialize here on Maui due to some outer island blockage. This is the curse of having these other islands surrounding Maui, they block a lot of the energy from south and west swells.

Windy conditions prevail as strong trade winds in the 15-30+ mph range also produce east swell for Maui.

This weekend’s WNW swell didn’t materialize on Maui like it did for the North Shore of Oahu and just in time for day 1 of the Pipeline Masters event on Saturday.

Take a look out at the north shore and you can see there isn’t very much happening in terms of riding waves. Maybe Mother Nature is taking a break from pumping out swell after swell, which made the month of November one to remember.
