Every year, Kaiser Permanente partners with community organizations across the state that are working to address pressing socioeconomic issues impacting Hawaiʻi residents. In 2021, Kaiser Permanente provided $3.8 million in grants to 50 community organizations that provided services to improve social determinants to good health and well-being.

The federal American Rescue Plan, which passed the US Senate March 6 and is expected to easily pass the US House of Representatives and be signed into law by the president in the coming days, includes additional assistance for veterans, according to a news release from Sen. Brian Schatz.

During the pandemic, the Hawai‘i Public Housing Authority established an emergency feeding program to prepare and deliver more than 400,000 meals to more than 30,000 vulnerable community members.

Hawaiʻi Foodbank received a $40,000 donation from Kamehameha Schools’ Buy One, Feed One Hawaiʻi campaign—a movement encouraging individuals to purchase a second meal for someone impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
