#power outage haiku

Update: 7:40 a.m., Aug. 2, 2023. Hawaiian Electric crews have restored power to the remaining 35 customers in Makawao after a large eucalyptus tree fell and brought down power lines along Makawao Avenue yesterday afternoon.

Due to heavy rains last night that caused trees to come down on power lines as well as a vehicle pole accident in Haiku, approximately 2,850 customers in areas of Waiehu, Haiku and Nahiku are currently without power.

An estimated 6,530 customers lost power in areas stretching from Haʻikū to Hāna on Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 24, 2015.

The largest outage was reported in the Haʻikū area at around 7:15 a.m. on Sunday, July 20, when a tree fell and broke a pole on West Kuiaha Road. It affected an estimated 1,322 customers.

The incident was reported at around 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15, while the contractors were working on power lines for Maui Electric Company.
