Maui Fire Department Schedules Controlled-Burns

On March 21-25, 2016 between 8 a.m and 5 p.m., the Maui County Department of Fire & Public Safety will be performing a series of “controlled burns” near mile marker 19 of Honoapiʻilani Highway in the Puamana area.

Fire Near Lahaina Homeless Camp Burns Half-Acre

A fire in an area frequented by homeless campers in West Maui burned a half-acre of brush before being brought under control on Sunday afternoon. The fire was reported at 2:51 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, 2015 on the Lahaina side of Hōkiokio Place, mauka of the Honoapiʻilani Highway in Puamana.

Prescribed Fire at Puamana Planned for Certification Requirement

Firefighters on Maui will conduct a prescribed burn in Puamana in part to satisfy national requirements for certification as a Type 3 Incident Management Team.
