A Hollywood director, Maui County Board of Supervisor and state House member, an influential labor and community leader, a couple who support students and their college aspirations, and a longtime athletic director are members of the 2023 Class of the Maui High School Hall of Honor. Schatz Bill Aims to Open Commissaries to War Heroes

The Schatz provisions will open access to commissaries to military heroes – including recipients of the Purple Heart or Medal of Honor and disabled veterans and their caregivers – and protect military bases from flooding by making sure facility planners are aware of and consider recurrent flood risks when building or designing facilities.

Flags Fly at Half-Staff in Honor of Maui Medal of Honor Veteran

In honor of the late Barney Fushimi Hajiro, Governor Neil Abercrombie ordered that all Hawaii flags at State offices and the Hawaii National Guard are to fly at half-staff from sunrise February 12 to sunset February 14.
