Lahaina Community Land Trust celebrates blessing of its first parcel secured in community ownership

Standing on ʻāina that will forever be protected for Lahaina’s kamaʻāina families, the Lahaina Community Land Trust gathered Monday with community leaders, friends and ‘ohana to celebrate and bless the first property secured into community ownership.

Committee to Discuss Hāna Traffic Management and South Maui Wastewater

The Infrastructure and Transportation Committee will meet Monday at 9 a.m. to receive presentations on nature-based wastewater solutions for South Maui and challenges related to traffic management on the Road to Hāna.

Groundbreaking and Blessing Held for New Wastewater Pilot Project in Kīhei

Three new low cost, low energy, green infrastructure systems are being constructed this summer to purify water coming out of the Kīhei Wastewater Reclamation Facility. These new systems will harness the power of plants, soil and microbial activity to purify wastewater to approach drinking water standards, dramatically expanding its potential uses and reducing the need for disposal via injection wells.
