A morning fire at Kahului Elementary School on Maui was deemed to be accidental, possibly caused by a malfunctioning electrical appliance, according to Maui Fire Services Chief Rylan Yatsushiro.

Maui police arrested a 17-year-old Kahului boy for arson in connection with an investigation into a fire that destroyed several classrooms at Kahului School.

Fire crews on Maui responded to a structure fire at Kahului Elementary School on Friday night, reported shortly before 10 p.m.
