A morning fire at Kahului Elementary School on Maui was deemed to be accidental, possibly caused by a malfunctioning electrical appliance, according to Maui Fire Services Chief Rylan Yatsushiro.
The fire was reported at 5:48 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, 2019.
Responding units from Engine 10 in Kahului arrived to find a copy room with major smoke damage, but no fire.

Investigators were also called to assist with determining the possible cause.
Crews left the scene at 7:16 a.m.
Damages included extensive smoke damage. Dollar estimates were not yet available at last report.
