#take down tobacco

More than 80 youth advocates gathered at the state capitol for an annual youth rally to “Take Down Tobacco” on Wednesday. Students from Kauaʻi, Oʻahu, Maui, Molokaʻi, and Hawaiʻi Island, along with community advocates, urged lawmakers to take action to end the youth vaping epidemic. 

Youth advocates from across the state, including Maui and Molokaʻi, gathered at the state capitol for an annual rally to “Take Down Tobacco.”  The rally, organized by the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, is held each year to combat the youth vaping epidemic. The group is calling for lawmakers to do more to protect kids and end the sale of flavored tobacco products.

The Coalition for a Tobacco-Free Hawai‘i Youth Council is supporting several bills that they say would help end the youth vaping epidemic and reduce the toll of tobacco in Hawai‘i. Among these bills is HB 551, which would end the sale of flavored tobacco.
