Council declares May Community Action Month, celebrates MEO’s 60th anniversary
Maui County’s Community Action Agency, Maui Economic Opportunity, was praised as a “second government” for its far-reaching work assisting county residents in need by Maui County Council members, who declared May as Community Action Month.
Maui Council adopts resolution on recycled water in effort to preserve potable water for affordable housing
Citing several supportive General Plan policies, the resolution requests the mayor and Department of Environmental Management to increase the “production and expansion of recycled R-1 water to preserve potable water for the construction of affordable housing and to support fire protection, greenbelts, agriculture and cultural uses.”
Maui Council passes bill for Kūlanihākoʻi Gulch sediment removal
Council Member Tom Cook applauded the Maui County Council’s passage today of a bill to authorize the county to enter into an intergovernmental agreement with the federal government to support a sediment-removal project for Kūlanihākoʻi Gulch in North Kīhei.
