Early morning closures at Kahului intersection to install camera system
The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation advises highway users that single lanes will be closed at the intersection of Puʻunēnē Ave. (Route 3500), Kūihelani Highway (Route 380), Maui Veterans Highway (Route 311) and Mayor Elmer F. Cravalho Way (Route 3800), on Tuesday, Oct. 8 and Thursday, Oct. 10, from 3 a.m. to 7 a.m.
Three GoAkamai Cameras Added in Central Maui
The new cameras are installed at the intersections of: Kūihelani Highway/Airport Access Road and Puʻunēnē Avenue/Maui Veterans Highway; Airport Access Road and Dairy Road/Pakaula Street; and, Hāna Highway and Dairy Road.
Lawmakers Consider Red Light Photo Enforcement Pilot Program
When a vehicle enters the intersection against a red light, the camera takes a telephoto color picture of the rear of the car, capturing an image of the license plate. A second wide-angle photograph records the entire intersection, including other traffic.
