Nāpili affordable housing bill clears first reading

Maui County Council members passed on first reading Friday morning a bill that sets aside $650,000 from the Affordable Housing Fund as a grant to A0746 Lahaina L.P. for pre-development costs for a project in Nāpili.

Gov. Green lowers flags to honor the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend

This action is taken to honor the 89 firefighters who died in 2023 and the 137 firefighters who died in previous years. One of the firefighters died in the line of duty was Tre’ Evans-Dumaran from the County of Maui Department of Fire and Public Safety.

“It is with a heavy heart that we offer news of firefighter Tre’ Evans-Dumaran. The ‘ohana of Tre’ Evans-Dumaran has confirmed the passing of Tre’ this morning.”
