Hawai‘i State Lab Detects COVID-19 Variant

The Hawai‘i Department of Health State Laboratories Division has detected the SARS-CoV-2 variant L452R. This strain of COVID-19 was first detected in Denmark in March 2020. It is now found in more than a dozen US states.

UH Mānoa Ranked 42 in US for Arts and Humanities

The World University Rankings by Subject was released on March 4, and ranked UH Mānoa 183 in the world (42 in US) for Arts and Humanities, and 232 worldwide (52 in US) for Natural Sciences. Social Sciences and Management placed 400 in the world (73 in US), and UH Mānoa was ranked in the 401–450 range (115 in US) for the Life Sciences and Medicine category.

HTA Seeks Marketing Proposals by June

The Hawai’i Tourism Authority (HTA), the state’s tourism agency, announced that it will be issuing a request for proposals (RFP) for external tourism marketing management services on April 5, 2011.
