Doan is credited with founding the Maui Math Circle, a free, student-run enrichment program that provides critical thinking and problem solving lessons in science, technology, engineering and math to elementary school children.

The County of Maui Department of Housing and Human Concern’s Volunteer Center is looking to recognize community members who give back through volunteer service. The center is asking local nonprofit and government agencies to submit nominations for an outstanding volunteer to be recognized during an awards program on Thursday, April 16, 2015 by Mayor Alan Arakawa, as part of a Celebration of Service.
