Six HIDOE educators receive nation’s highest award for science and mathematics teachers

Six Hawai‘i public school educators received the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching, the nation’s highest award that a science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and/or computer science teacher may receive for outstanding teaching in the United States, President Joe Biden announced this week.

Former UH Maui College librarian recommended to be next Hawaiʻi CC chancellor

Susan Kazama, a former UH Maui College librarian, has been recommended to be the next Hawaiʻi Community College chancellor by University of Hawaiʻi Vice President for Community Colleges Erika Lacro to UH President David Lassner. Her effective date of appointment is July 19, 2024.

2023 Hawaiʻi Milken Educator Award recipients presented with $25,000 cash prize at national forum

Following their surprise notifications in April, 2023 Hawaii Milken Educator Award recipients Rory Inouye and Jade Pham received their unrestricted $25,000 cash prizes in Los Angeles during a national forum. Inouye is a math teacher at Waiākea High on the Big Island and Pham is a vice principal and Student Services coordinator at Prince David Kawānanakoa Middle School in Honolulu.
