The Department of Water Supply of the County of Maui has provided notice of the end of the Stage 1 water shortage for water consumers in the Upcountry Maui service area.

A Stage 1 water shortage declaration will take effect July 2, 2021 for Upcountry Maui, due to dry conditions and high water use. Beginning July 2, the department will prohibit Upcountry water consumers from using water for irrigation, watering lawns, washing vehicles or other nonessential activities.

The County of Maui Department of Water Supply will begin mandatory Stage 1 water restrictions for its domestic water system serving residents of Upcountry and West Maui beginning Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020. Official public notice of a declaration of a water shortage was published today.

The Department of Water Supply is taking part in a national education campaign to engage the public and officials about how water is essential, invaluable and needs investment.

All Upcountry water consumers are asked to conserve water and to avoid any unnecessary water use until further notice.
