Access to the ocean at Maui’s ʻĀhihi-Kinaʻu Natural Area Reserve open after a nearly two week closure when a Humpback whale carcass washed ashore on Dec. 30.
Whale Carcass Prompts Closure at ʻĀhihi-Kinaʻu, Maui
Shoreline access at ʻĀhihi-Kinaʻu Natural Area Reserve on Maui has been closed due to a whale carcass on shore. This is the fifth dead Humpback report since November 11th.

Ocean Safety crews were assigned to patrol waters offshore of Kaʻa Point near Kahului Airport in Kahanā after sharks were seen feeding on a decomposing baby whale carcass.
