High Surf Advisory Cancelled 4/1/11 8:45 a.m.

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has canceled the HIGH SURF ADVISORY for NORTH FACING SHORES of MAUI COUNTY.

The National Weather Service has extended the high surf advisory for the North Facing shores in Maui County until noon today.

A High Surf Advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in the advisory area, producing rip currents and localized beach erosion.

Although the west northwest swell is slowly subsiding, it is still bringing advisory level surf along exposed north facing shores of the smaller islands.

Surf of 10 to 15 feet for exposed north facing shores will subside below advisory levels this afternoon.

Forecast surf heights are estimates of the height of the face or front of waves.

A high tide of approximately 1.8 feet is expected between 1:19 p.m. and 2:37 p.m. this afternoon.

As a precaution, beach goers are urged to stay out of the water and well away from the shore break due to hazardous wave action and rip currents.
