Power Restored: 800 Customers Affected by Lahainaluna Outage

Power was restored to an estimated 800 customers affected by a morning power outage along Lahainaluna Road and adjoining subdivisions.

Officials with Maui Electric Company say the loss of power occurred at around 7 a.m., when a vehicle struck a pole in the area.

Among those affected by the outage were customers on Lahainaluna Road, and laterals including Lahainaluna High School, Lahaina Intermediate School and Princess Nahienaena.

Repairs were made to the damaged pole and lines and power was restored shortly before 10 a.m.

The Maui District of the Department of Education issued an advisory indicating that:

  • Princess Nahienaena and Lahaina Intermediate Schools will remain open for the regular school day; however students will be served a snack instead of lunch.
  • Students at Lahainaluna High School will be released at 10 a.m.

Full bus service will be in effect for all three schools.
