Stabbing Leads to MPD Search of 19-year-old Male

At approximately 3:24 a.m. Monday, Maui Police Department patrol officers in Kihei responded to the Paradise Garden Condominium on South Kihei Road.

In the parking lot, officers attended to a 21-year-old male victim who was suffering from several lacerations to his face and body areas. After further investigation, the victim was allegedly stabbed and cut by Sydney N. Elaban-Paoa following an argument between the two. Elaban-Paoa fled the scene before police arrived.

Patrol officers and Criminal Investigation Detectives from Wailuku are currently looking for Elaban-Paoa. The police department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Elaban-Paoa. If anyone has information on the whereabouts of Elaban-Paoa please call Maui Crime Stoppers at (808)242-6966 or 911. Elaban-Paoa is considered to be armed and dangerous.
