Hawai’i Agrees to Exchange with 3 Japan Prefectures

Hawai’i will enter into an agreement with three prefectures in Japan to promote exchange and cooperation on projects involving clean energy and trade.
The agreement will be signed on Tuesday between government officials of Hawai’i and Hiroshima, Saga, and Shizuoka.
The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding will solidify the parties’ commitment to engaging in technological development in renewable energy and energy efficiency.
The signing ceremony will be held on Tuesday, August 21 at the Hawai’i Imin International Conference Center at the East-West Center in Honolulu.
Among those scheduled to be in attendance are Governor Neil Abercrombie, US Senator Daniel Inouye, Lt. Governor Brian Schatz, Governor Hidehiko Yuzaki of Hiroshima Prefecture, Governor Heita Kawakatsu of Shizuoka Prefecture, and Governor Yasushi Furukawa of Saga Prefecture.
