Hundreds of bikes replaced shinny new vehicles as the showroom at Jim Falk Valley Isle Motors in Kahului was transformed on Wednesday into winter wonderland of wheels for deserving Maui kids.

In the spirit of the holidays, 250 kids from six Boys & Girls Clubs on Maui were surprised with brand-new bikes for the holidays during the special give-away.

For the second year in a row, owner Jim Falk threw the surprise party that included a bike and helmet for each child in attendance, a pizza and hot dog party in the company’s Puunene Avenue parking lot, and a coned course where kids could test out thier new wheels.

Each child at the event was selected individually to receive a bike by leaders at the Boys & Girls Club of Maui.  “If someone buys somebody one bike, that’s a big deal; but if somebody buys 250 bikes, that’s a huge deal,” said BGC Director Colin Hanlon, who joined the recipients in wishing Jim Falk a Merry Christmas.

Falk talked to the room full of kids saying his favorite Chritsmas as a kid was getting a new bike.  In gifting the bikes, he said there were “no strings attached…  all you need to do is do something nice for somebody else.”
