Maui Dressmaker Donates $10,000 to Haiku Elementary School

The Haiku Ho`olaule`a & Flower Festival scheduled for Saturday, March 31 was given a $10,000 donation boost this week by Jennifer Oberg, a master dressmaker and owner of The Perfect Fit.

The donation will be presented at the festival which is the main fundraising event for the Ha’iku Elementary School, along with support going to the Ha’iku Boys and Girls Club and Ha’iku Community Association. Money raised goes towards programs for local youth education, enrichment and activities.

“This wonderful little school and its dedicated staff have great needs. Lack of space is a huge issue, with staff and students jam packed into the current facility. The special education teachers are even using their bathroom as classroom space,” said Oberg, in a written statement.

“The school is going to start a building fund soon, and my dream is to see kind, caring people and businesses in the community step up and help out with this project with either monetary or in-kind donations. If a tiny one-person business like mine can give a $10,000 donation, then certainly others with more resources might be able to help as well. I hope others will join me in supporting this special school.”

The Festival runs from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is located at the Haiku Community Center and Haiku Elementary School Grounds. Admission for the event is free.
