Three recent high school graduates in Maui County were selected for a new round of scholarships issued by the Josh Jerman Foundation.
Now in its 10th year, the Josh Jerman Maui Nui Scholarship program provides financial assistance to college bound seniors who plan to pursue full-time enrollment in an accredited four-year college or university.
This year’s recipients include Alicia Ballesteros of St. Anthony Junior-Senior High School, Lesley Escobar of Molokaʻi High School and Francisco Jiminez Salgado of Lahainaluna High School.
Each are the recipient of a $1,000 scholarship award.
According to the announcement, Ballesteros will be attending Gonzaga University in the fall, where she plans to study nursing.
Escobar will reportedly be attending Grand Canyon University in Arizona, with plans to major in biology with an emphasis in pre-physical therapy.
Jiminez Salgado will be attending University of Colorado Denver, where he will pursue a degree in biology or kinesiology, the announcement said.
To date, the program has awarded a total of more than $29,000 in scholarships to 29 Maui, Molokaʻi and Lānaʻi high school seniors, “who have displayed a passion for returning to Maui County after college to contribute to the local economy.”
Josh Jerman, who established the fund, is a realtor with Hawaii Life Real Estate in Wailea on Maui.
