Attendance at the 91st Maui Fair was up about 1.5% to an estimated 95,000 people, over last year, according to preliminary estimates released today by Maui Fair Managing Director Sherri Grimes.

The increase was attributed in part to the wider variety of food and entertainment, as well as new attractions that debuted during this year’s four-day event that ran from Oct. 3 to 6, 2013.

“The increase was perhaps due to an even greater menu selection at our food court that featured nearly four dozen vendors; two brand new rides; and our new Events Arena that created an ambiance of entertainment under the stars with interactive and engaging talent,” said Grimes.

Grimes highlighted other attractions from this years’ event saying, “Our gymnasium vendors, Orchid-land, Bonsai, School Art, Hobbies & Crafts, Photo Salon and especially our Horticulture exhibitors really shared their talents, creativity and most amazing passion for their profession.”

Featured entertainment also provided for a nightly draw for visitors with performances by Willie K, Mailani and Nuff Sedd, among others.

“We had the opportunity to see some of Hawaiʻi’s best entertainment in their element,” said Shane “HHB (Hawaiian Homeboy)” Kahalehau during his afternoon radio program today.

“The entertainment lineup created the wow factor to wrap up a very successful year,” said Grimes.

Next year’s event, the 92nd Maui Fair, has already been scheduled for October 2 to 5, 2014.
