Water customers in the Honokōwai and Lahaina areas of West Maui are being asked to conserve water following the failure of a key pump at the Māhinahina Water Treatment Facility earlier today.

Officials with the Maui Department of Water Supply say customers in the areas may experience low water pressure while repairs are being conducted.

The department advises that repairs are being expedited, but until repairs are completed and full production is restored, Honokōwai and Lahaina customers are being urged to avoid irrigation and unnecessary water usage.

Nāpili and Kahana customers should not be affected.

Customers should call the 24-hour service line at (808) 270-7633 only if a water emergency occurs.
