The Maui Bicycling League, the County of Maui and the State Nā Ala Hele Program, in partnership with the National Park Service, will present the results of an intense design workshop for the proposed West Maui Greenway during a gathering this afternoon in Olowalu.

The presentation will focus on the results from a workshop held over the past two days, and includes highlights relating to sustainable design, funding and long-term management for the 25-mile West Maui Greenway.

Representatives with the Maui Bicycling League say, “spectacular views and outdoor recreation opportunities for residents and visitors are found along this proposed greenway.”  The group hopes the project will provide a healthy, alternative transportation option for all ages.

The goal of the workshop and presentation is to develop the design and amenities for a five-mile greenway from Olowalu to Puamana.

The group also hopes to identify a management group to implement the greenway design, provide stewardship, and continue to pursue the vision for a continuous, 25-mile greenway along Maui’s western shore.
