The owner of the Hitter’s Paradise batting cages in Kīhei is seeking the public’s help in identifying two suspects involved in a forced break-in and theft of merchandise at the business early Wednesday morning, March 2, 2016.  The burglary incident was reported at 12:58 a.m. at the batting cages and pro shop located between the Tesoro gas station and Blackies Pit Stop, off of the Piʻilani Highway in South Maui.

Owner, Paul Skarbo said two male suspects broke into the business, stealing about $500 in cash and about $1,200 in merchandise.  They also caused about $600 to $800 in damage and stole more than 300 tokens, good for 15 swings each, according to Skarbo.

“The thought of them coming in to the business to use them (the tokens) makes my stomach turn,” Skarbo said in an email communication to Maui Now.

Skarbo described the suspects saying one was about 5’10” and was wearing a baseball cap.  The other was about 5’8” with long curly hair wearing a beanie-type hat.

According to Skarbo, police dusted for finger prints and surveillance imagery was captured and reviewed by police.  “The horrible thing for me as a struggling small business owner is the deductible is about 10% of our monthly income. For a small business not breaking even that makes it even worse,” he said.
