Kasai Named Kaiser’s Director of Clinic Operations
Kaiser Permanente has named Darren Kasai as its new senior director of clinic operations on Maui.
Kasai is based out of Wailuku Medical Office and will lead clinic operations on the Valley Isle to expand and improve access to healthcare for more than 55,000 Maui Kaiser members.
Kasai most recently served as regional administrator for critical access hospitals in the Maui region of Hawaii Health Systems Corporation, overseeing operations at Kula Hospital and Clinic and Lāna‘i Community Hospital.
He also served as executive director at Alberta Heartland Primary Care Network in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada, where he was responsible for strategic planning, finances and operations of a primary-care network of 16 clinics.
A veteran officer of the US Navy Reserve, Kasai led operations at the Deployed Warrior Medical Management Center at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, a Level I trauma center in Germany.

Kasai earned a master’s in health administration from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California, where he also obtained a graduate certificate of management of ambulatory care systems.
He also holds a master’s degree in leadership studies, with an emphasis on nonprofit leadership and management, from University of San Diego in San Diego, California.
Kasai is a member of Rotary International.
