    Looking Ahead

    Breezy trade winds will bring windward and mauka showers through Tuesday with an increase in shower coverage expected starting Tuesday night as a disturbance high in the atmosphere moves over the islands bringing the possibility of locally heavy showers. Trade winds are forecast to decrease Friday with lighter winds and wet weather on tap through the weekend.

    Mostly cloudy with showers likely for windward spots and partly sunny skies for leeward areas. High temperatures from 79° to 84°. Northeast winds 15 to 30 mph.

    Tonight 

    Northeast winds 15 to 30 mph. Mostly cloudy with showers likely in windward and mauka spots and increasing in coverage. Scattered leeward showers expected overnight. Locally heavy rainfall possible with a slight chance of thunderstorms. Low temperatures from 68° to 73°.

    Malika was born and raised in Hilo. She began her career in news at KGMB9 in 2007. As a part of their weather team, Malika was nominated for two Emmy Awards and won the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Journalism Award for her reporting on Hawaii’s tsunami damage in 2011.
