2,351 Citations Issued During Maui Click-It-Or-Ticket Campaign

Members of the Maui Police Department Traffic Section along with assistance from patrol officers conducted a two week operation from May 22 to June 4, 2017 targeting seatbelt, child restraint and pick-up truck restriction violations.

The Maui Police Department participated as part of the National “Click-It-Or-Ticket” Campaign. Officers were assigned to look for and cite drivers who were not using their seatbelts and child restraints on public roadways, including school and construction areas.

During the two week campaign, Officers issued a total of 2,351 citations. Of those citations, 615 were for seatbelt violations, 28 were for child restraint violations, 12 were for pick-up truck restrictions and 180 were for mobile electronic device violations.

The primary goal of the operation was to ensure the safety of all occupants of vehicles on roadways in Maui County.
