112 Hazardous Trees to be Removed at Pi‘iholo
More than 100 trees will be removed from the county right of way on Piʻiholo Road due to hazardous conditions.
County crews will begin the initial removal of 20 hazardous Eucalyptus trees located above the Piʻiholo Zipline on Monday, July 10, 2017, with completion anticipated by Aug. 9, 2017.
This will require intermittent road closures due to safety with work between 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Subsequent phases will include the removal of additional trees within the county right of way, with a total of 112 trees slated for removal along Piʻiholo Road due to the hazards they present by falling branches and trees.
The County of Maui Department of Public Works and the Department of Parks and Recreation, including the Maui County Arborist, are coordinating the removal effort.
