Man Pulled from Ocean at Ulua Beach, Wailea

A swimmer was transported to the Maui Memorial Medical Center in critical condition after being pulled from the water at Ulua Beach fronting the Wailea Elua Village condominium on Sunday morning.

The incident was reported at 8:17 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 27, 2017.

Wailea firefighters arrived on scene at 8:20 a.m. to find a man in his 50s or 60s on the beach with a vacationing firefighter from the mainland and other bystanders administering CPR.

Paramedics arrived and continued advanced life-saving measures until the victim regained a pulse and was transported to the hospital for further care.

Fire officials say the man was brought to shore in a canoe after he was seen having a possible medical emergency while in the water.

Information on the man and where he is from was not immediately available.
