A Small Craft Advisory is posted for all Maui County channels (except the Kaiwi Channel) and Māʻalaea Bay through 6:00 p.m. Sunday. East winds up to 25 knots are forecasted along with rough seas of 7 to 11 feet. Inexperienced mariners should avoid navigating in these conditions.

Today

Today high temperatures are expected from 80° to 85° near shore with lower high temperatures at higher elevations (see graphic above). Winds will be out of the east from 15 to 20 mph with higher gusts. We expect partly sunny skies on the leeward side with scattered morning showers and partly to mostly  cloudy skies for the windward side with morning showers likely. Less moisture is expected by the afternoon.

Tonight

Partly cloudy in windward and mauka spots with scattered showers overnight. Partly cloudy for leeward areas with isolated showers. Low temperatures from 69° to 74°. East winds from 15 to 20 mph.

 

Sunday

Winds are expected out of the east from 15 to 20 mph with higher gusts. High temperatures from 80° to 85° and low temperatures from 69° to 74° with partly to mostly cloudy skies for windward spots. Showers will favor the morning and overnight hours. Leeward areas can expect lots of sunshine with just isolated showers overnight if any.

Looking Ahead

A trade wind weather pattern is expected for the next several days. An area of showery clouds just upstream of the state is expected to move from east to west across the area through Saturday morning. An increase in showers will accompany this area especially over windward and mauka spots. Winds will become lighter toward during the second half of next week.
