Fulfilling a Dream – The Story of a Person’s Journey to Maui

What makes a person from Massachusetts, with a thriving business career in the technology industry, move to one of the most beautiful islands in the world?

Born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, Mary Anne's dad was a Bricklayer and her mom a homemaker. Later the two formed their own real estate company from which they retired in their early 70's. This is the foundation of Mary Anne's strong work ethic. She graduated from Boston College in the late seventies with a business degree and like traditional northeast people, started her professional career working for a Fortune 500 company, Digital Equipment Corporation.

After 10 years of career growth culminating in managing DEC's strategic major accounts, Mary Anne's desire to broaden her perspective led her to accepting an executive sales role with a software company in Los Angeles - the geographical location lent itself to getaways in Hawaii. During one of these trips, Mary Anne decided she'd had enough of the corporate rat race. She wanted to explore another world: waking up each day to breathtaking views, sunny days and a better quality of life.

Consistent with her ability to quickly recognize and act on an opportunity, Mary Anne took a 3-month sabbatical and moved to Maui. Her conservative upbringing rationalized that she would take this time to get this paradise desire "out of her system" and then return to California. She never made it back!

Having purchased her first home at age 23, real estate was a familiar business and a natural progression for her career. Since 1988, Mary Anne Fitch has sold over $600M in Maui real estate. She's owned her own company (twice) and true to form, acted on many exciting, life and career - expanding opportunities during that time.

Professionally, her passion lies in establishing long term client relationships. Often her client's Real Estate needs change in different stages of their lives. It is natural that many of her clients become close friends. She recognizes the world is small and that Maui attracts a certain person. Mary Anne helps her clients make their best investment into the Maui lifestyle.

As Maui began to attract young families, Mary Anne recognized the need for a private grade school and college prep school. She and her husband, Nam Le Viet, also an agent with Hawaii Life, are original founding members of Maui Prep Academy located on West Maui.
