The Raise the Wage Act would give more than 41 million low-wage workers a raise, increasing the wages of almost 30% of the US workforce.

State Representative Kaniela Ing (D-South Maui), is sponsoring legislation to increase Hawaii’s minimum wage to $15 by 2019 and $22 by 2022.

Hawaiʻi's minimum wage for most employers will increase to $7.75 per hour beginning on Jan. 1, 2015 under Act 82.

A bill that raises Hawaiʻi's minimum wage from the current $7.25 an hour to $10.10 an hour in 2018, was signed into law today by Governor Neil Abercrombie.

The bill seeks incremental increases from the current $7.25 an hour to: $7.75 in 2015; $8.50 in 2016; $9.25 in 2017; and $10.10 in 2018.

The bill seeks yearly increases over four years beginning next year to: $7.75 per hour in 2015, $8.50 in 2016, $9.25 in 2017, and $10 in 2018.

The Hawaiʻi State Senate introduced 1,127 Senate bills prior to the Jan. 23 legislative cutoff date.
