The money will be matched with other donations, and will be used to support educational programs including financial literacy, cultural, and Hawaiian language programs at the center, according to an announcement.

Sarofim Realty Advisors is proposing the development of a mixed-use light industrial and commercial/business project. The project also includes plans for 200 apartment units and a Maui Electric Company substation on the nearly 75-acre project site.

Today the state Land Use Commission, by a vote of 6-3, found Pi’ilani Promenade and related developments in violation of the LUC’s 1995 order.
