When units arrived, they discovered smoke coming from an emergency generator, with no flames, and quickly brought the situation under control.


Bottling artisan honey at Kalepa. After extracting, we pass it through a coarse stainless steel mesh, and then through cheesecloth into the Stainless Steel bottling tank. We let it settle for a week or so, to get air bubbles and large wax particles to float to the surface for skimming before we bottle it in freshly washed & dried wide-mouth canning jars. When she’s not busy as a bee with local community initiatives, Helen Nielsen is creating a buzz with her Maui Natural Bee honey.


Recycled Paint is used for the Annual Paint-a-Can Program.  This year 122 brightly colored litter barrels were painted by 36 Maui school. Paint is in turn offered for free to the public, schools, and non-profit organizations and is used for graffiti cleanups, beautification projects, and the annual “Paint-a-Can” program.
