The Maui Friends of the Library, in cooperation with Whole Foods Market, is offering shoppers the opportunity to make donations to purchase new library materials for a bookmobile set to roll into Maui in June 2016.

On April 1, 2015, Whole Foods Market partnered with Mālama Maui Nui (formerly known as Community Work Day Program) for a “5% Community Support Day.”

Whole Foods Market in Kahului will donate 5% of its sales on April 1, 2015 to Mālama Maui Nui, the nonprofit environmental organization formerly known as the Community Work Day Program.

The University of Hawaiʻi at Maui College will be hosting its 2015 spring job fair on Wednesday, Mar. 11, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on campus at the Ka Lama Courtyard. The public event will give those looking for a job an opportunity to meet with local employers. Come dressed for an interview and bring copies of your resume.

Maui Friends of the Library will hold a used book sale on Saturday, Feb. 14, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Whole Foods Market in Kahului.

Volta Industries has added two additional electric vehicle charging stations on Maui, both at the Maui Mall in Kahului fronting Whole Foods Market.

The public art exhibit was created in collaboration with the Honolulu Museum of Art, and is being hosted by Whole Foods Maui at 3 p.m. this Sunday, Aug. 24. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

In addition to obtaining information from experts, the event also serves as a building point for inspiration and networking opportunities within the community. Attendees will also learn how to become a local supplier and learn more about financing and distribution.

To-date, Whole Foods Market’s Community Support Days have raised more than $100,000 for Maui nonprofits. Island culinary students are the recipients of a $977.24 check from a Recycle Your Change fund drive at Whole Foods Maui.

The work-site wellness initiative features a vending machine at the facility that sells fresh fruit, yogurt, water and healthy sandwiches from Whole Foods. There’s also a Y Produce Express program which provides free delivery of fresh produce from local farms on a weekly basis.

Fresh local produce stars in a composed roasted beet salad demonstrated by celebrity chef Joey Macadangdang of Roy’s Kaanapali.

When units arrived, they discovered smoke coming from an emergency generator, with no flames, and quickly brought the situation under control.

When she’s not busy as a bee with local community initiatives, Helen Nielsen is creating a buzz with her Maui Natural Bee honey.

Paint is in turn offered for free to the public, schools, and non-profit organizations and is used for graffiti cleanups, beautification projects, and the annual “Paint-a-Can” program.

The taste education series is a monthly event presented by Slow Food Maui that highlights locally grown food and culinary practices. Future events are planned on raising poultry and catering on Maui.

Slow Food Maui and Whole Foods Market Maui are partnering to present Local Flavors, a series of chef demonstrations utilizing locally grown produce at the Upcountry Fair.

Sprouted almonds, seed cheese, and Essene bread are not the most familiar items in the average Maui kitchen, but they happen to be some of the healthiest foods on the planet according to celebrity Maui chef and author Jeremy Safron.

Whole Foods Maui diverted a total of 34 tons of trash from the landfill since opening its doors last year.
