World Renown Peace Activist Johan Galtung on Maui

International peace activist and Professor Johan Galtung will be the featured speaker at a free talk tonight at the University of Hawaii Maui College.

Gaultung is a world-renown sociologist from Norway who co-founded “Transcend – A Peace, Development and Environment Network,” an organization for conflict transformation by peaceful means.

Gaultung has taught at Colombia University and Princeton as well as in Oslo and many other international sites including UH Manoa.

Gaultung is credited with numerous contributions to the sociology field and has published more than 1000 articles in over 100 books. Economist and fellow peace researcher Kenneth Boulding has said of Galtung that his “output is so large and so varied that it is hard to believe that it comes from a human.”
